Carrie and Boe’s Cabin Wedding in Mancos, Colorado

By Durango Wedding Photographer Kelly Miranda Photography

Carrie and Boe had originally planned a small wedding with about 50 guests at their family cabin outside Mancos, Colorado. It turns out, life had other plans and the COVID-19 outbreak made that gathering impossible. These two love birds decided to move forward with their plan to marry at the cabin with just their immediate family. The cabin is quite remote and does not have running water, electricity, or internet, so this meant that they could not video cast their wedding to all the guests who could not attend. They came up with a clever work around, and decided to move their cabin wedding date to Friday, a day before their original wedding date, and then hold a ceremony on the web for their guests the following day in town where they had internet service. That way, their guests would not have to change their schedule to attend online, they could share in their union with all of those people, and still get the beautiful cabin ceremony and portraits that they had dreamed of. I know it was stressful to pull it all together but this couple handled it like champs. They say if you can survive quarantine with someone, you can survive anything so I know Carrie and Boe are made to last! Congrats to this wonderful blended family and thanks to them for having me out to capture their wedding day. I can now say I’ve photographed a wedding during a pandemic with a mask on the entire time. It’s hard to breathe with that thing on but it was necessary!
