Ember's In-Home Newborn Session
Haley and Thomas had a quick and surprising home birth. They had always planned a home birth, but did not imagine it would happen so suddenly that their midwife would nearly miss the entire event. Little Miss Ember was so eager to arrive! A home newborn session was also something that was on their mind as they wanted to be able to stay in during their postpartum period as much as possible. This family opted for a lifestyle newborn session and it turned out just lovely!

Elyza's In-Home Newborn Session
Elyza’s family had the most beautiful nursery and it was perfect for an in-home session. This allowed her Mom and Dad to get as much rest in those early days of sleep deprivation while still capturing those first moments in a stunning way. For some parents, an in-home newborn session is something they prefer over studio portraits. These photos are great for families who do not want props or backdrops and prefer a more documentary style session and more family portraits.

This is totally up to you based on what your preferences are for the weeks following birth. Many parents love coming to the studio because they want the use of all the wraps, headbands, hats, outfits, backdrops, and props. I make the studio extremely comfortable for new mothers, with a private breastfeeding area, comfy sofa, soothing beverages, soft music, dim lights and all the convenience of home. Other parents prefer to stay at home as much as possible in those first few weeks and that’s totally understandable! When I come to your home, you can stay comfortable and don’t have to worry about bringing the diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc. As long as your home has a moderate amount of natural light, this is a wonderful option for more documentary style photos that don’t involve a lot of props or outfits. The choice is yours!

While I offer both digital AND printed products, I firmly believe in the importance of printed photographs. The tangible portraits will be passed down for generations as the digital world continues to change. Your albums, prints, canvases, and metal art will stand the test of time. Plus, you get a free social media sharing digital file of every print you order! Digial files are a temporary means of storage but printed artwork is what will be passed down for generations.

For a studio session, it’s preferred that your baby be between 7-14 days old. For an in-home session, your baby can be between 7-21 days old. Of course, I can photography any age, but these are the ideal times for those really sleepy, brand new baby, fresh and tiny poses.

A newborn session takes between 2-3 hours because we take LOTS of breaks for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing your baby. Each pose is carefully captured by slowly easing your baby into a peaceful position. We work at the pace of your baby and their safety and needs come first. Don’t worry though, you will spend most of your time just relaxing in between all those baby snuggles and feeding, while I work with your baby to capture those most precious moments.
